Vir Sanghvi

Journalist, Author, Columnist, and Talk Show Host
Vir Sanghvi is a renowned Indian print and television Journalist, Author, Columnist, and Talk Show Host. He created history by becoming the youngest editor in Indian journalism at the age of 22 when appointed to lead Bombay magazine.

Vir served as the Editor of the Hindustan Times from 1999 to 2003, and as the Editorial Director until 2007. He then took up an advisory role with HT Media, continuing as a regular columnist for Hindustan Times.
Vir Sanghvi also began a parallel TV career, while he was still the editor of Sunday. Vir has anchored several shows on Doordarshan, DD-CNN, Star Network, NDTV, Discovery Travel, and CNBC; notable among them are Star Talk, Cover Story, Achiever’s Club, Custom Made for Vir Sanghvi, Foodistan, A Matter of Taste, and On The Record. Since January 2016, he has been a Resident Commentator on CNN News 18, and hosts the weekly political show Virtuosity. His historical series on Indian elections, Mandate With Destiny, on News X, was turned into a bestselling book called Mandate.

Vir’s other literary contributions include Men of Steel (published by Roli Books), a paperback bestseller translated into 8 Indian languages, along with Rude Food, Madhavrao Scindia, A Biography (Penguin), and India – Then and Now (Roli).

In 2015, Vir co-founded EazyDiner, an online restaurant reservation service that has become an industry leader.

Vir has won many awards during his career for both TV and print including the Rajiv Gandhi Award, the Lokmanya Tilak Award, the Cointreau Award for Best Food Literature Book in the world for Rude Food, and innumerable TV prizes. In 1993, he was declared A Global Leader of Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum at Davos.

He has been a member of many professional, academic and government bodies including the National Integration Council and is a member of the Broadcast Content Complaint Council (BCCC), a body that regulates content on entertainment TV channels.
