Tommy Lai has served as the Chief Executive Officer of General Hotel Management Pte Ltd (GHM) since 2018.
Tommy has been instrumental in GHM’s growth and expanding presence in the luxury hospitality industry. He has helped drive the brand’s successful operation of its highly regarded The Chedi properties in exotic destinations around the world.
Tommy has over 20 years of experience in the Financial, Real Estate and Hospitality industries, which span across markets such as Southeast Asia, North Asia and the GCC’s countries. Prior to joining GHM, he was the Vice President of Development with Thailand-based Onyx Hospitality Group in North Asia, where he helmed the firm’s first regional office in Hong Kong and its investment and business development operation. In 2022, Tommy was listed on Hotelier Middle East’s Executive Power List in recognition as one of the most influential hoteliers in the GCC region.
A native of Singapore, Tommy received a Master’s in Finance from the University of Adelaide, a First-Class Honors Bachelor’s in Building Construction Management from the University of New South Wales and completed coursework in Hotel Real Estate Investment and Asset Management at Cornell University.
