Stephen Ho runs Hyatt’s Greater China business and leads growth and development of its Asia Pacific portfolio, which includes more than 290 operating properties across the diverse region as well as a robust hotel pipeline. Together with his team, he focuses on strategic growth, leveraging Hyatt’s expertise in food and beverage and innovative product development.

Stephen joined Hyatt in 2018, taking on the inaugural role of President – Greater China, Global Operations. In this role, he oversaw the strategic growth and operations of Hyatt in Greater China. Stephen also refined Hyatt’s China inbound and outbound strategy through China- specific digital channels and enhanced localization to meaningfully engage with the country’s highly mobile population.
Prior to joining Hyatt in April 2018, Stephen was Chief Executive Officer, Greater China Region at Marriott International, Inc., where he oversaw all hotels in operation and under construction in the region. He was Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ Asia Pacific President from 2012 to 2016 and is the recipient of the prestigious CNBC Travel Business Leader Award 2014, in recognition of his leadership excellence.

Stephen began his extensive hospitality career as a pastry chef in Brunei in 1981. Since then, he has served in a variety of roles across multiple functions and geographies, including Brunei, Auckland, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Okinawa, Singapore, Dhaka and Beijing, with his role covering design and technical services, supply chain, procurement pre‐opening support for new hotels, business development and acquisitions in Asia Pacific.

A native of Singapore and a permanent Hong Kong resident, Stephen is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Fujian. Stephen received his MBA from the University of Ottawa. Due to his strong interest in Eastern philosophy, he completed a master’s degree in Buddhism at The University of Hong Kong in 2012. He is also a guest associate professor at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

In his personal time, Stephen enjoys running, hiking, cycling, reading and travelling.
