With an exemplary career spanning over almost three decades, Sanjeev Jaiswal, currently the Vice-President and Chief Executive Officer of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) represents effective governance and innovative leadership. An esteemed member of the 1996 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) batch, Sanjeev has dedicated his career to enhancing public administration through a blend of strategic foresight, ethical governance, and a deep commitment to public service.

CEO, ZILLA PARISHAD, NASHIK (MH)

As the CEO of the Nashik Zilla Parishad, Sanjeev led transformative initiatives that strengthened water security, improved agricultural sustainability, and mobilized community participation across rural Maharashtra.

He launched the Ganga Sagar Abhiyan, a pioneering water conservation program focused on restoring traditional water bodies, constructing new storage tanks, and promoting rainwater harvesting at the grassroots level. The campaign became a model of community-driven environmental action, engaging local citizens, farmers, and self-help groups to revive water resources and ensure long-term irrigation benefits.

Under his leadership, the district also witnessed the promotion of agricultural diversification and multiple cropping systems, enhancing productivity and rural livelihoods through improved irrigation and sustainable farming practices.

COLLECTOR & DISTRICT MAGISTRATE, CHANDRAPUR (MH) & CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR (MH):

Initiated and led significant land revenue management and district administration projects, enhancing regional development and governance from March 2004 to May 2007 in Chandrapur. As the District collector of Chandrapur he was a major driving force for the shifting of 2 villages namely Botezari & Kolsa from Tadoba-Andhari Forest Reserve to Tolewahi. From May 2007 to June 2010, as a District Collector of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar he played a major role in the Water Scarcity Mitigation.

MUNICIPAL COMMISSIONER, NAGPUR(MH)

As Municipal Commissioner of Nagpur, Sanjeev Jaiswal’s visionary leadership transformed the city’s approach to urban management. He pioneered Nagpur’s first 24×7 Water Supply Scheme, redefining the standards of public service delivery. His idealistic commitment to sustainability led to the Bhandewadi Reuse and Recycle Project, enabling the treatment of 120 MLD of sewerage, a model for responsible urban innovation.

From June 2010 to June 2012, his progressive governance and reform-oriented approach ushered in a new era of infrastructure advancement, administrative excellence, and citizen-centric development.

DIVISIONAL COMMISSIONER, DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE, MAHARASHTRA, CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR DIVISION:

As a Divisional Commissioner of  Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar he played a pivotal role in tracking the drought like situation in Marathwada. He was the driving force for coordinating the completion of the Water Supply Scheme for Osmanabad City from Ujni Dam and also the Jalna City WSS from Jaikwadi Dam. Directed efforts in district administration and land revenue management, fostering sustainable development from June 2012 to January 2015.

MUNICIPAL COMMISSIONER, THANE:

From January 2015 to March 2020, IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal’s tenure as Municipal Commissioner of Thane marked a turning point in the city’s urban evolution. With a visionary and reform-driven approach, he redefined Thane’s development blueprint, transforming it into one of Maharashtra’s fastest-growing urban centres.

Through bold road-widening initiatives and strategic DP implementation, he unlocked over 100 hectares of urban land, paving the way for smarter infrastructure, seamless mobility, and sustainable growth.

This period stands as a career-defining chapter, where vision met execution, and Thane emerged as a model of modern urban governance.

ADDITIONAL COMMISSIONER, MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF GREATER MUMBAI:

Spearheaded urban development and administrative reforms, contributing to Mumbai’s city management from May 2020 to June 2021. The Jumbo Covid Centers was set up under his guidance and he was one of the Key Warriors for combating Covid in Mumbai City.

PRINCIPAL SECRETARY, WATER SUPPLY & SANITATION DEPARTMENT, GOVERNMENT OF MAHARASHTRA:

Oversaw critical policy planning and program implementation, enhancing public health infrastructure from October 2021 to July 2023. Jal Jeevan Mission, the flagship program for providing assured tap water to every rural household was implemented under his leadership & guidance in a Mission mode in the State.
