Kapil Dev Nikhanj is one of India’s greatest sporting icons and among world cricket’s most influential all- rounders. Widely known as “The Haryana Hurricane,” Kapil Dev captained India to its historic first Cricket World Cup victory in 1983, an achievement that transformed Indian cricket forever and laid the foundation for India becoming a global powerhouse in the sport.

A fearsome fast bowler and match-winning batsman, Kapil Dev was the first player in cricket history to achieve the double of 5,000 Test runs and 400 Test wickets. He held the world record for the highest number of Test wickets (434) at the time of his retirement and was named the Wisden Cricketer of the Year (1983) and later Wisden Indian Cricketer of the Century (2002). He has also been honored with the Arjuna Award, Padma Shri, and Padma Bhushan.
