Jitu Virwani is the Chairman and Managing Director of Embassy Group, where he has managed and led
the organization since 1993. Under his leadership, Embassy has expanded to encompass 85 million
square feet of commercial, residential, hospitality, services, retail, and education spaces. With a
commitment to high standards of quality, world-class services, environmental responsibility, and safety,
Embassy’s footprint spans key Indian and international markets including Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai,
Pune, the NCR, Thiruvananthapuram and Serbia, among others.
Jitu played a pivotal role in launching India’s first publicly listed and Asia’s largest Real Estate Investment
Trust (REIT) by area. He has overseen Embassy’s residential portfolio of 53 million square feet of ready,
ongoing, and future residential developments, offering a diverse range of living options such as branded
residences, uber-luxury villas, exclusive villaments, sky condominiums, integrated communities, senior
living, and contemporary homes.
In 2017, Jitu introduced WeWork to India, where it has since become one of the country’s leading flexible workspace providers with 1,00,000+ desks across 60+ locations in eight cities. In 2024, he was appointed as the Non-Executive Chairman of the company.
In January of 2024, he was appointed as Non-Executive Non-Independent Director on the board of Equinox India Developments Ltd., which merged with Nam Estates (an Embassy Group entity). With this merger, the company will become one of the largest listed real estate developers on the market.
He is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
