Air India’s transformation has already seen the airline place record-setting orders for new aircraft,
comprising 470 wide-body and narrow-body aircraft, at published list prices of USD 70 billion. It also
entails a complete overhaul of equipment, product, technology, systems and culture, and a dramatic
network expansion.
Campbell is also overseeing the integration of Air India Express and Air Asia India, two subsidiary airlines, into a consolidated low-cost carrier, and the merger of Air India with Vistara, a full-service airline jointly owned by Tata and SIA.
To support the group’s growth, Air India has developed a state-of-the-art Training Academy for pilots, cabin crew, engineers and other skilled professionals that will also contribute to the Indian aviation ecosystem.
Campbell started his career with SIA in New Zealand in 1996. He subsequently worked in various markets within the group, such as Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, and Japan, before becoming the founding CEO of Scoot, SIA’s low-cost subsidiary, in 2011. He served as Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, on SIA’s Management Committee from 2016 to 2020, before returning to Scoot as the CEO for a second term in 2020.
